CHURCH & GRAVEYARD (site of): ROBERTSTOWN in Ballyrobin

CHURCH & GRAVEYARD (site of): ROBERTSTOWN

What is recorded here

Robertstown in Ballyrobin, County Antrim, held a medieval church and graveyard before the town itself vanished from common memory. The graveyard may have marked the first boundary of the settlement, a place where birth, death and weekly prayer belonged to the same small circle of people. Whatever Robertstown was, it was important enough to build a church and keep returning to it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH & GRAVEYARD (site of): ROBERTSTOWN. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
