What is recorded here

Dundesert, Kirkfield in County Antrim, Ireland, held a church, graveyard and enclosure from early Christian through medieval and post-medieval times. The site is gone now, but the names and dates suggest a place where people gathered, buried their dead and marked the boundary of their world for centuries. Perhaps children ran between the enclosure posts while elders argued about prayer, and the graveyard filled slowly until the whole field became a memory others could still point to.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH, GRAVEYARD & ENCLOSURE (site of): DUNDESERT, KIRKFIELD. Recorded period: POST-MED; MEDIEVAL; E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
