This blue commemorative plaque records: In 1951 The Harbour Bookshop was opened in this building by Christopher Milne (1920-1996) son of A.A.Milne who portrayed him in the Christopher Robin poems and stories. In 1959, he founded the Dartmouth and Kingswear Society Recorded plaque organisation: Dartmouth and Kingswear Society, South Hams District Council.

Christopher Milne was the son of author A.A. Milne and the real-life inspiration for Christopher Robin in his father's Winnie-the-Pooh stories; he later became involved in local business and conservation efforts by founding the Dartmouth and Kingswear Society.
