What is recorded here
Childrens Burial Gd. is a vanished children's grave in North Galway, reduced to a rectangular shadow on a 1933 map while the grassland above it forgets every marker. A ringfort sits two hundred metres to the southwest, perhaps watching the small buried lives that never grew into its stories. The absence is not empty; it is a room where childhood ended before it could be remembered.
In undulating grassland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1933) as a rectangular area (E-W 18m, N-S 10m). No visible surface trace survives. A ringfort (GA098-026----) lies c. 200m to SW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
