Children's burial ground in Leitrim Beg

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Leitrim Beg is a children's burial ground, a small raised circle where young lives ended before records began. Grass and thistles still cover the place, hiding the exact shape of what happened there. The children may have been from a nearby farm, a passing family, or a village now forgotten. Their names are lost, but the ground still holds them.
On a hummock in undulating grassland. According to local information, this natural rise (diam. 16m; H 1m) is the site of a children's burial ground. A few boulders are visible but no alignments are evident. The area is heavily overgrown with thistles and grass. The monument was brought to our attention by Dr C. Cunniffe.
