Templebeg in County Kerry held a cruel mercy during the nineteenth century when unbaptised children were buried apart from ordinary Christians. That exclusion reveals how much fear and rule could override love. The children still belong to the land even when human law refused them. Forgetting that chamber would be a second failure of witness.
