What is recorded here

No map drawn by human hands has ever marked Cill Buaine, yet the children of that valley are buried there beneath brambles and forgotten stones. Henry called it a cellurach in 1957, but the locals still point to it as a church site, as if the dead children needed a roof more than a cross. Field clearance debris and overgrowth have swallowed its features, making it a place where memory does more work than evidence.

Not marked on the OS maps, this site, recorded by Henry as a ‘cellurach’ (KE088-034003-) (1957, 105), is locally known as a church site. It is located on the same slope as KE088-029004-, approximately 320m to SW. The features noted in it by Henry are difficult to identify because of its overgrown nature and the large amount of field clearance debris deposited within it.
