This blue commemorative plaque records: Bronte House. This plaque was erected in Queen Elizabeth II jubilee year in commemoration of the great authoress Charlotte Bronte who stayed here in 1849-52 Recorded plaque organisation: Filey District Civic Society.

Charlotte Brontë was a prominent English novelist and poet, best known for her novel "Jane Eyre," which challenged Victorian conventions and is considered a seminal work of literature. She lived at Brontë House from 1849 to 1852, during which time she continued to write and publish influential works that contributed significantly to the literary canon.
