This bronze commemorative plaque records: HRH The Prince of Wales KG KP opened Erddig to the public on 27th June 1977. The house, gardens and park were the munificent gift to the National Trust of Philip Yorke the last Squire of Erddig Recorded plaque organisation: National Trust.
Philip Yorke III was the last Squire of Erddig, whose munificent gift of the house, gardens, and park to the National Trust made it accessible to the public. King Charles III, previously Prince of Wales, officially opened Erddig to the public on June 27, 1977.
