Charcoal-making site in Deelis (glanarought By., Glanmore Ed)

In rough hill pasture, on a NE-facing slope overlooking the valley of the Drimminboy River. A circular area (diam. 9m) enclosed by a low grass-covered earthen bank (Wth c. 1.2m; H 0.35m) truncated along the NW arc by a sheep path (NE-SW). The interior slopes to the NE where it is marshy. Lumps of charcoal are exposed in rabbit burrows and along the path. Charcoal was produced here in the early 18th-century to supply the iron smelter in Lauragh Upper (KE108-076----).
