This blue commemorative plaque records: The 13th Century chapel of St Mary on the Bridge enlarged about 1400 AD was restored in 1930 by the Derbyshire Archaeological society as a memorial to Sir Arthur Haslam through the generosity of his family. Recorded plaque organisation: Rotary Club of Derby.
The Chapel of St Mary on the Bridge, originally built in the 13th century and enlarged around 1400 AD, served as a place of worship for travelers crossing the bridge; it was restored in 1930 by the Derbyshire Archaeological Society to honor Sir Arthur Haslam.
