Stone circles and court tombs appear across Northern Ireland, but this is the only recorded example in County Derry. That rarity makes the stone circle in Carrick East stand out: a Neolithic place where people shaped death, memory and land before written history. It is also protected, which means the stones and soil belong to everyone and must not be treated as a toy.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CENTRAL COURT TOMB: "STONE CIRCLE". Recorded period: NEOLITHIC; PREHISTORIC. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
