Cawfields Crags is a sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous sandstone and limestone, formed around 340–300 million years ago through sedimentary deposition in a shallow marine environment. The crags are notable for their resistant rock formations and coastal erosion features, typical of the Northumberland coastline.
