Cave

In an area of low-lying pastureland and outcropping rock, c. 40m to the E of a river. This drystone-built Man-made underground passage was initially visited by the Survey in August 1982. It consisted of a chamber (L 7.1m; Wth 1.5m; H 1.6m) running NE-SW and access as gained at its SW end. From the NE end a narrow, partially blocked, rock-cut passage ran SE for c. 1.8m and then curved to the SW. Two recesses were evident in the SE wall. A revisit in May 1992 indicated that the Man-made underground passage had been filled in and no visible surface trace now survives.
