Half a kilometre of forgotten stone in County Mayo, the cave lies crushed into a shallow rectangular hollow beside the rath bank. Two square chambers and a narrow connector remain visible through grass and scattered boulders, preserving the shape of a passage that once disappeared underground. People may have used it for storage, escape or ritual, but the earth has taken back most of its purpose.

In the SE quadrant of a rath (MA031-016001)), adjacent to inner face of the bank. This Man-made underground passage is indicated on the 1837-8 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps as ‘Cave’. A collapsed section of the Man-made underground passage is evident as a shallow subrectangular depression (overall L c. 7-8m NW−SE), grassed-over and partly infilled with boulders. The depression appears to consist of two roughly square hollows (c. 3-4m across; D 0.5-0.7m), one at N end and one at S end, with a short, narrower hollow (2m x 2m) connecting the two.
