What is recorded here
The *Caulonia* was a British steamship that sank in 1875 near Folkestone, Kent, after striking a submerged rock. It was lost with all 13 crew members, and its cargo of coal was also lost; the wreck is notable as an early example of maritime casualties in the English Channel.
