Dog keepers built Castlemilk, Kennels in the 19th Century to house hunting or watchdogs for the estate. They dug drains, laid flagstones and hung iron rings along the wall so animals could stretch their legs before rides. The keeper likely stood at the door with tobacco in his mouth, calling each dog by name while rain ran down the stone. What remains is a small building that still smells of purpose: a place made for living creatures and the people who depended on them.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlemilk, Kennels as Kennels (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
