A gate lodge not only contributing positively to the group and setting values of the Castlemacgarrett estate, but also defining the extent of the estate in the early twentieth century (cf. 31310116) with the architectural value of the composition, one evoking comparisons with a nearby head gardener's house (see 31311123), suggested by such attributes as the compact rectilinear plan form centred on an expressed porch; and the timber work embellishing the roofline.
