Castlelaw is a twentieth-century firing range in Midlothian where military practice overlapped an ancient fort. Gunfire and government control may have erased or buried older lives, yet the hill still holds the shape of that collision. People likely trained there under open skies while forgotten neighbours watched from a distance. The range turns history into danger and memory into distance.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlelaw as Firing Range (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
