What is recorded here

Castlehill Pavement Works cut stone in Caithness through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, sustaining labourers who lived beside the quarry. Two outbuildings still mark the site, one a long ruin with five doorways and no inner walls, perhaps a tool shed, the other so small it vanished from early maps until 1908. The chamber walls collapse into grass, but the shape of the work remains: men breaking rock, carrying chips, and returning home along roads paved with Castlehill itself.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill Pavement Works as Pavement Works (19th Century) - (20th Century), Quarry (19th Century) - (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
