Castlehill Pavement Works, Spoil Heap

Spoil Heap (period Unassigned)

What is recorded here

Castlehill Pavement Works left behind a spoil heap, a blunt mound of rejected stone and soil where useful material was separated for local building. The site still stands in Highland, Scotland, marked only by a coarse ridge on the land and a vague point on the official map. Men may have broken pavement, filled roads or cleared fields there, but the heap itself keeps no name and gives no answer. It is the kind of place that exists because people worked hard, discarded what they could not use, and walked away.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill Pavement Works, Spoil Heap as Spoil Heap (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
