What is recorded here

Castlehill Mine was a Fife colliery built in 1964, its compression frame rising beside the mine mouth like a metal ribcage waiting to breathe. It joined the busy east-coal fields where royal cars once rolled past workshop ladders and young pipers played beside winding towers. The mine no longer has a visible identity, but the ground still remembers the weight of men, machines and the dark hunger of Scottish coal.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill Mine as Colliery (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
