Castlehill

Earthwork (period Unassigned)(possible)

What is recorded here

Castlehill is an Inverness residential area where Castlehill House still stands beside Culloden Road. Tradition holds King Kenneth I granted the land to the Cuthbert family in the 950s, and older earthworks may preserve Neolithic life from roughly the fourth millennium BC. The hill has therefore carried settlement, memory and change long before its present streets.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill as Earthwork (period Unassigned)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
