Castlehill is an unassigned linear feature near Birnie, Aberdeenshire, where excavations in 2014 found no archaeological remains despite its name. The missing history belongs elsewhere, perhaps buried under assumptions about what a hill should contain. Names often point to memory rather than fact, and Castlehill may be one of those places where the story left before the stone did.
