Castledykes - Northwards

Roman Road (roman)

What is recorded here

Northwards from Castledykes, a Roman road cut through South Lanarkshire, its stones still buried beneath grass and memory. Soldiers, merchants or fleeing families may have worn the surface smooth, yet no name survives to mark their haste. The line remains straight because human urgency often draws straighter than nature.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castledykes - Northwards as Roman Road (roman). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
