Balmuildy, Castledykes and Bothwellhaugh may still hide a Roman road beneath South Lanarkshire soil. The names suggest a line joining military, ceremonial and domestic life, yet no surviving path confirms the shape. Men may have walked that lost alignment for miles, carrying orders, grain or grief between places now buried under grass.
