Castlecraig holds an 18th-century sundial, a bronze or stone marker waiting for sunlight to reveal the hours. The Borders give it that much: a clear position, a visible age, and a purpose in measuring days. Whether it guided farmers, marked a estate boundary, or simply amused a local family, the dial still performs its job whenever the sun clears the hills.
