Castle Tyrehane in County Galway was recorded in 1574 as belonging to a bishop's son, yet no trace of its walls remains visible today. That absence is not emptiness; it is a lock waiting for the right knife. You are not forgetting the castle, because it is still holding its shape inside the landscape. One day the right person will arrive, remember the boy's name and the castle will reappear through the flesh of the world.
Nolan (1901, 111) records that the castle of 'Tyrehane', in the barony of Leitrim, was in the possession of 'Moyler the Bishops sonne' in 1574. Not located.
