What is recorded here

Killinkelle Vaghte, a lost castle in County Galway, was recorded in 1574 as belonging to Redmund Kiltagh. Its walls, rooms and purpose have vanished without a trace. What remains is a name preserved in a single line, waiting for the earth to give back what it swallowed.
Nolan (1901, 112) records that the castle of 'Killinkelle Vaghte', in the barony of Loughrea, was in the possession of 'Redmund Kiltagh' in 1574. Not located. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 5 December 2017
Redmund Kiltagh held the castle of Killinkelle Vaghte in the barony of Loughrea in 1574. It is remembered as a minor medieval stronghold associated with local Gaelic landholding families in the region.
