What is recorded here
Beallafynlyne Castle vanished before it was ever built, leaving only a name and a buried contradiction. Ric Burke fiz Ric held the property in 1574 according to Nolan, yet no stones, ditch or field mark remain for anyone to point at. The absence is the shape: a castle that exists only in the gap between ownership and visibility.
Nolan (1901, 111) records that the castle of 'Beallafynlyne', in the barony of Leitrim, was in the possession of Ric Burke fiz Ric' in 1574. Not located.
