What is recorded here
Rosbran still holds the absence of a castle, named only in the 1654-57 Down Survey while the land around it continued to breathe. Rooms may have stood there, or stones may have been scattered before anyone drew a line; either way the place remembers a shape it no longer shows. Forgetting did not erase the castle, it changed the castle into a trap for imagination.
Unlocated castle in townland that is mentioned in the 1654-57 Down Survey (NLI, MS 720).
