The precise location of a castle on the E side of Mary St. at the junction with Gaol Lane has not been identified. According to O'Flaherty (2010, 27) there was a 'Castle, junction Mary St E/Gaol Lane, site unknown. Front house and castle, Alderman Richard Craven, Alice Craven 1727'.
