What is recorded here
Kilmartin is an unlocated castle in County Laois, Ireland. It is not classed as a ruin, hall or fortress because no clear remains have been identified. The name survives in a old written notice rather than in a visible stone chamber. That absence makes the place a ghost inside a ghost, a castle known only through the memory of another record.
Unlocated castle within the townland of Kilmartin mentioned in the OS letters (O'Flanagan 1933, vol.1, p. 78).
