Castle Street School stood in Fareham from 1873, a small £970 building that became Portchester Board School and later Portchester Council School. Richard Bennetts, twenty-two when he first stepped inside, stayed headmaster for over forty years, shaping generations of children through decades of change. His long presence turned a modest classroom into a living heartbeat of the community, where youth and experience collided in ordinary lessons.
