Castle Semple stands in Renfrewshire as a sixteenth-century collegiate church, its stones still marking the place where organised worship outlasted the people who first built it. The precision of its location contrasts with the absence of detail about the hands that laid those stones. A chapel needs more than rock and mortar; it needs breath, voice and intention. Those are missing now, but the shape remains clear enough to imagine them inside.
