Castle Rankine vanished into the Falkirk soil, leaving only a buried curtain wall and the memory of Gert Ranky, who held the land in 1299. The deep ravine of Castlerankine Burn still cuts beside the missing stones, preserving the shape of a fortress that refused to stay visible. What remains is a ghost laid flat beneath the grass, waiting for someone to imagine the doors, lights and voices that once moved through its walls.
