Castle of Park

Castle

What is recorded here

Castle of Park stands in Aberdeenshire as a layered mansion whose heart is a mid 16th-century Z-plan fortalice, enlarged in 1829 and still carrying a weather-worn Douglas Arms panel. It has been a castle, a home, a hotel and a private residence, which suggests people kept returning to its depth, its rooms and its presence rather than leaving it behind as a dead shape. The old stair-tower, vaulted cellars and changed pavilions make the house feel like a life still being rearranged.
Castle of Park is shown as a castle on the public map of Aberdeenshire. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
