Castle Newe stands in Aberdeenshire as a ruined castle marked by a 1604 datestone, later additions from 1791 and 1831, and a house demolished around 1950. What remains is not a grand fortress but a fragment: part of a barrel-vaulted cellar and a corridor, still catching rain and memory. The place may have begun as a home rather than a weapon, which makes its loss feel less like history and more like a room forgotten inside the earth.
