Castle Mound in Llanigon, Powys, is a Norman motte-and-bailey ruin built after 1081, rising three metres from a wide earth base. It still stands beside Llanthomas and the River Wye ford, linking the castle to the old church and settlement of St. Eigen. The mound may have watched traffic crossing the Wye, while its timber hall and earthworks disappeared into the Welsh countryside.
