Castle mound is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle in Llanigon, built after the 1066 Norman Conquest of England and before 1215. Earth, rubble and timber rose from a surrounding ditch, probably taken from nearby woods and ground. It stands as a scheduled monument, preserving the shape of medieval defence while leaving behind the forgotten people who lived, worked and watched from it.
