Castle, motte in Barronstown is a circular flat-topped mound about nineteen metres across and two metres high, enclosed by a fosse and set on the summit of an east-west ridge in County Louth, Ireland. Its steep sides and missing bailey suggest a small, exposed stronghold rather than a grand castle, while the modern revetment wall and recent scarping on the northeast show that even abandoned places keep being handled by living people. The mound may have watched the ridge, sheltered someone, or marked a boundary now forgotten, but its shape still carries the intention of the hands that built it.

A circular flat-topped mound (diam. c. 19m; H c. 2m) enclosed by a fosse (max. Wth 11m at rim, 6m at base, D c. 0.8m). It is sited on the summit of an E-W ridge, has steep sides and has a modern revetment wall built up against its base. The NE side of the mound appears to have been scarped in relatively recent times, probably at the time of the building of the revetment wall. There is no evidence for a bailey.
