Castle Leslie

Demesne walls of Castle Leslie, erected c.1870. Snecked rock-faced limestone and sandstone walls with rock-faced limestone coping. Dipped portions in townland of Tullyree. Sections in poor repair, rubble infill visible in places notably in townland of Glaslough, to north of demesne.

The demesne walls to Castle Leslie are simple yet well-executed, in snecked limestone, which remain largely intact surrounding the demesne and are testament to the work of skilled masons. They are a focal point in the area, testifying to the importance and security of the demesne landscape as late as the nineteenth century. These walls contribute visually to the architectural heritage of the area and enhancing the visual presence of the estate as a single entity.
