What is recorded here

Castle Knowe rises beside the old Kilruskin road as a broad mound that may have watched travellers since before written history. People have called it a castle hill, a burial place, or a court under an oak, while farmers took stones from its rampart and buried its ditch beneath a culvert. The name itself remembers a small rounded hill, the kind where ordinary land begins to sound like myth.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Knowe as Palisaded Enclosure (prehistoric)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
