What is recorded here

Castle Hill in South Lanarkshire is a ring ditch, an unassigned circle of earth and memory rather than a finished castle. It may have marked a boundary, a shrine, a trap or a childhood game, but the ditch still casts a shadow across the field. People can stand outside that shadow and ask what it excluded. The absence of a date does not remove the shape; it hands the meaning back to imagination.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Hill as Ring Ditch (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
