What is recorded here
Castle Hill in South Lanarkshire is a cairnfield, a scattered pile of stones that may have marked graves, boundaries or prayers before written memory. It is not a castle at all, though the name invites that mistake. The real building work was done by hands that left no address, and the hill still keeps their effort buried under grass.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Hill as Cairnfield (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
