Castle Hill in the Scottish Borders still carries the shape of a castle though no wall or room remains named in the public record. A hill is not an empty failure of memory; it is a container for every person who climbed it, pointed at it or loved it. The absence of a building does not diminish the place. It hands the castle back to the imagination.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Hill as No Class (event) (21st Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
