Castle Hill rises in Moray as a possible medieval motte, its earthwork edges still sharp enough to suggest a fortress rather than a mound. The distinction between human design and natural slope may have blurred long ago, yet the shape resists forgetting. A knight may have stood there at dawn, watching the valley fill with mist, or a child may have climbed it barefoot and invented the first legend. The hill keeps both possibilities alive because it refuses to explain itself.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Hill as Earthwork (period Unassigned), Motte (medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
