Castle Hill, Glen Water holds Roman pottery beside an unassigned settlement, proving the place crossed more than one human era. That much is clear. The rest resists memory: whether the hill served as fortress, farm, boundary marker or seasonal camp, and whether its people came by invitation or conquest. The clay survived; the names did not.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Hill, Glen Water as Settlement (period Unassigned), Unidentified Pottery (roman). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
