Castle Hill in Dumfries and Galloway is an unclassified fort where Irish convicts bled into the soil before they rebelled. They were exiled for life, branded politicals, and forced to grow food for a colony that did not want them. On a dark Sunday in 1804 they stopped pretending to be property, rose as one, and turned a farm into a battlefield. The hill still holds that much anger, waiting for someone strong enough to remember it.
