Castle Hill, Alton stands as an unassigned earthwork in East Ayrshire, its purpose hidden beneath grass and time. The mound may have marked a boundary, a watch post, or a forgotten home, yet no date or name remains attached to its shape. Its exact position is known within ten metres, but its history has vanished like breath on cold glass. What is left is a hill that refuses explanation, waiting for someone to imagine what it watched over before the world stopped remembering.
